Default Rental Store Thefts...

Rental Fraud Alert from NER and ARA
Have you seen or rented equipment to Frank Koeberlein? The Champaign (IL) Police Department is seeking information from rental stores in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota and Missouri who have rented equipment to the following individual: Francis (Frank) Koeberlein, white male, dob 5/29/68, 6 ft. /200#, brown eyes, hair, Illinois D.L. #K164-2416-8153, 606 W. Cole, Heyworth, IL. Koeberlein will rent a Bobcat, Case, John Deere or similar brand tractor, skidsteer, excavator or similar equipment, telling the store that he might also be interested in purchasing the equipment. He, however, does not return the equipment and has been selling it to other businesses & individuals. Koeberlein rents the equipment with checks drawn on closed & NSF accounts and has been involved in this scheme for the past 6 months. To date, 13 rental companies have been identified as victims of Koeberlein. The most recent incident occurred in Columbia, Missouri the week of Feb. 2. Champaign P.D. Officer Nathan Rath is working with federal authorities on this case and is certain that many more rental stores have been victimized by Koeberlein. Please contact Ofcr. Rath with any information you may have on Koeberlein. Operation Alert: Stolen equipment notice
Stolen from customer of dealer in western Ohio (SR 35 and I 70) between Feb 13 and Feb 16: John Deere 4240, 1980 model, new paint, new cab kit 2700 hours. Red Bull #575 sprayer with 90' booms. John Deere 1560 bean drill (15'). #2000 Kenzi 6 row planter with double frame. If you have any information about this equipment, please contact your local police, or the Association office.

Ugh....this is sickening. I imagine we'll see a lot more of this stuff as tough times persist.

Texas has the highest level of rental equipment theft in the entire United States. This kind of activity isn't limited to tough economic times, it happens on a continuing basis with rental equipment and rental insurance rates reflect this. These people are rarely caught. They just disappear under a new identity and keep going.
